TRONIC IS SIX

A creative space in Glasgow for electronic and visual artists in the beginning, Tronic soon turned into a monthly event.
Showcasing local talent alongside guests from further afield, the night firmly focused on Scottish electronica. Promoting, supporting and partying with like-minded folk, regularly running gigs for new artists and constantly reinventing the night’s sounds.
It has been a journey through some of Glasgow’s alternative venues. Developing a gathering of gig goers with a collective of bands, artists, producers and fantastic people those at Tronic have proudly got to know and have play for us.

Thiskk - Tabletopagrophobia LP - Review

It would seem that Glasgow is on the brink of an Electronic music revolution. The talent for bedroom producers is simply bursting at the seams. The latest artist to come onto the TRONIC radar is Thiskk with his "Tabletopagrophobia" LP.

This free to download LP is a weird and wonderful journey through a mixed up bag of electronic sounds. From ambient experimental noise opening the LP, right through to the familiar bleeps of minimal techno. However the main backbone of the LP takes its inspiration from the ambient dubstep sounds made famous through the likes of Burial and the glitched dubstep of Kode 9. This is a well produced and well thought out LP. One might think that such a collection of disperate genres would not work on the one album, however Thiskk has managed to weave a cohesive theme throughout keeping the listener intrigued all the way to the end. Hats off to this fine piece of work.

We loved this LP and look forward to much more from this fledgling artist. Download the full LP here.

Araya - Murakami's Kangaroo Zoo (Cowboy Bebop AMV)

This brilliant video created by a fan came to our attention recently, featuring Araya and his track from his 2008 album Bridge of hesitation. Araya (Keir MacCulloch) of course has played Tronic many times before and more recently in the popular up and coming band Capitals.

Mixing the song Murakami's Kangaroo Zoo with one of the best Anime films of all time Cowboy Bebop, this combination manages to create a beautiful music video. So good i have watched it about 10 times and just had to share it with all. Enjoy.

Inspirational Graphics

Graphic designer Craig McLachlan is the man behind the Tronic artwork and has been part of the collective for some time.  As part of Glasgow band ‘Skies Fell’ he masterminds the creative visual aspect of the band and has been given recognition in ‘Computer Arts’ magazine for his recent album cover artwork, entitled ‘The Kite’.

Inspirational work indeed and nice recognition from ‘the world’s best-selling magazine for digital artists and designers’. Check out Craig’s band at www.skiesfell.com and more of his work at www.digiglyphic.com.

Beanie Hats Off To One Of Glasgow's Finest

‘Beanie Hats off to one of Glasgow’s finest event mogul’s’

A little note to honour Thirteen years as Brendan O’Hare is stepping aside in his position at The 13th Note.  Famed for drumming with Teenage Fanclub and for the tea cosy on his head, Brendan has always been a popular character who engineered at the venue and ran the events side of things there.
Around half way into his stint, Tronic came chapping on the Note’s door and the man was keen to give us a go. A chance that lead to over two years as residents and many a fine night, with the cult venue warming to what we had to offer as a live electronic outfit. Always open minded to all our ideas for which we are very much grateful.
Top drummer, top engineer, top bloke, the beanie in the basement will be missed and Tronic wish him all the best for the future and his newly chosen path.
